Tesla Model Y Charging in UAE: GCC vs US Import

Start with the market version. UAE and GCC Tesla Model Y vehicles use the Type 2 and CCS2 charging ecosystem documented by Tesla UAE. A US-imported Model Y uses NACS and must be treated as a different charging case.

UAE/GCC and US import

VersionACDCReviewed AC reference
UAE/GCCType 2CCS2Up to 7.4 kW single-phase or 11 kW three-phase
US RWD referenceNACSNACSAbout 7.7 kW at 32 A
US 48 A service referenceNACSNACSAbout 11.5 kW; trim and year dependent

The US figures are references for the named configurations, not a promise for every imported Model Y. Confirm the VIN, model year and charging screen.

Can I install a 22 kW wallbox?

You can install compatible equipment if the property design allows it, but the car draws only its onboard AC limit. A 22 kW label does not turn an 11 kW vehicle into a 22 kW vehicle.

Adapter rule for US imports

Do not choose an adapter from connector names alone. Confirm the charging direction, AC or DC use, vehicle software and the adapter documentation. A physical fit is not proof of supported charging.

Installation check

  • Confirm GCC or US market version.
  • Check single-phase or three-phase supply and available load.
  • Measure the full cable route and required civil work.
  • Select protection and isolation from the final electrical design.

Build the itemised estimate in the MEV installation planner.
